NEW SPORT AND PLAY FACILITIES FOR BACCHUS MARSH

Community sport and play is bigger than ever in Bacchus Marsh thanks to the completion of sports fields for soccer and cricket, four sports courts for netball and tennis, and an all abilities playspace at the fast-developing Bacchus Marsh Racecourse and Recreation Reserve.

State Member for Eureka Michaela Settle today joined Moorabool Shire Mayor, Cr Ally Munari to officially open the new facilities, the latest addition to the reserve, backed by a $5.25 million Allan Labor Government investment. Delivered in three stages, the reserve’s ongoing works are providing a home for all things sport, play and recreation in Bacchus Marsh.

These latest stage two additions include an all abilities playspace featuring an accessible spinning dish, a sensory and sound area with three musical instruments, flying fox with a harness style seat, and sand pit with an accessible sand table. Junior play equipment, climbing nets, three trampolines, two of which are fully accessible, and swings with one basket swing are available for families to enjoy.

The project also delivered four new tennis and netball courts with sports lighting, two new soccer pitches within an oval for cricket with sports lighting, perimeter fencing, and players shelters.

The new additions complement the other recently completed facilities, including a pavilion, with Bacchus Marsh Soccer Club, Bacchus Marsh Football Netball Club, and Bacchus Marsh Cricket Club are just some of the local clubs benefitting from the new facilities. A six-wicket cricket training facility, and an additional Australian football and cricket oval with lighting are also on the way and are expected to be open later this year.

From playspace redevelopments to pavilion upgrades, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation participation.

Michaela Settle MP acknowledged Moorabool Shire Council for its more than $7.6 million financial contribution and commitment to delivering the transformed Bacchus Marsh Racecourse and Recreation Reserve facilities.
