The Andrews Labor Government is supporting the Rokewood/Corindhap Hoppers Football and Netball Club to have their best season yet, with a boost to construct new lighting at Rokewood Oval.

Member for Western Victoria Jaala Pulford today announced the Labor Government is providing $169,258 to install competition lighting at the oval through the 2019/20 Community Sports Infrastructure Fund, with support from the Golden Plains Shire Council.

The new lighting will provide more opportunities for the Hoppers to train and play matches at night, all year round.

The Community Sports Infrastructure Fund is helping clubs like the Hoppers install the modern sports facilities they need, while also rejuvenating tired and ageing grounds and facilities across the state to get more Victorians active in their local clubs.

Across Victoria we’ve invested more than $630 million in community sport and recreation facilities since 2014.

“By improving sport and recreation facilities in communities right across the state, we’re encouraging more Victorians to get active and play the sports they love.”

“The Andrews government is really kicking goals and shooting hoops when it comes to funding regional sporting facilities, and this funding for Rokewood Oval will make sport more accessible for all.”

“An investment in community sport is an investment in community health. The funding of new lighting will give locals the ability to play and train at night, something that will provide long-term health benefits for the community well into the future”
