NET GAIN FOR MT CLEAR CRICKET

Cricket is set for the fast lane at Mount Clear Recreation Reserve in Ballarat thanks to an Allan Labor Government-backed new cricket training facility at the popular venue.

Member for Eureka Michaela Settle today joined the City of Ballarat and Mount Clear Cricket Club to officially launch the new facility made possible by a $100,000 investment from the Victorian Government’s 2021-22 Community Cricket Program.

Sport is the lifeblood of regional communities like Mount Clear and the new facility opens up a range of new possibilities for local cricket.

The training facility features five cricket wickets, which is fully enclosed with soft internal netting. Two lanes are dedicated for year-round community use.

It’s a great new space for the 155 juniors and 60 seniors at the club to perfect their batting and bowling technique and a safer environment for players and other users – preventing cricket balls from escaping the nets.

The new training facility complements the recently installed scoreboard and previously completed pavilion upgrades at Mount Clear Recreation Reserve, also made possible by a combined $750,000 Government investment.

The Victorian Government has invested more than $1.9 billion in community sport and active recreation infrastructure over the past decade.

The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is also providing more than $23 million to continue delivery of community sport and active recreation infrastructure, and programs to increase participation opportunities and improve accessibility.

From new nets to pavilion upgrades, investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.

Michaela Settle MP acknowledged the City of Ballarat for its more than $560,000 financial contribution and commitment to delivering the project.
