MORE ACCESSIBLE KINDERGARTEN FOR MOUNT CLEAR KIDS

Member for Eureka Michaela Settle today officially opened the Mount Clear Community Kindergarten’s Accessibility Improvements project.

The Eureka Community Kindergarten Association Inc. received $118,600 from the Allan Labor Government as part of the Building Blocks Inclusion Grant – Building and Playgrounds from Budget 2021-22 to make the indoor and outdoor spaces more accessible to children, staff and carers of all abilities. This includes widened doorways, levelled floorspaces, a brand-new walkway ramp, a shaded pergola, and upgraded fencing.

The Mount Clear Community Kindergarten’s Accessibility Improvements project was joint funded with the City of Ballarat who contributed $143,085.

The Building Blocks Inclusion Grants provide funding to kindergartens to upgrade early childhood buildings and facilities (including playgrounds), and purchase equipment to provide safe and more inclusive environments for children of all needs and abilities.

The Victorian Budget 2024-25 includes $19 million for Building Blocks Improvement and Inclusion Grants. Since Building Blocks was launched in 2020, the Labor Government has invested more than $235 million in planning building and upgrading early childhood services across the state.

The Victorian Government is reforming early learning – making it bigger, better and fairer.

Through our nation-leading $14 billion Best Start, Best Life reforms, we are transforming early childhood education to help children thrive, save families money and support parents – especially women – to return to work or study.

There shouldn’t be any barriers to education, including access to facilities. That’s why we’ve provided Mount Clear Community Kindergarten with the funding they need to make their buildings and playspaces more accessible for our local kids, parents, and staff.”
