Minister for Agriculture and Regional Development and Member for Eureka Michaela Settle has welcomed a $73.4 million Victorian Budget investment in Regional Victoria, which will help develop projects, tackle congestion and improve safety — including important pedestrian safety upgrades in Buninyong.
Funding will support improvements at the Midland Highway roundabout in Buninyong, a high-priority location identified for pedestrian safety works.
The busy four-legged intersection carries more than 3,500 vehicles per day in each direction, including freight traffic, and is surrounded by retail businesses, hospitality venues and bus stops, creating regular pedestrian movement through the area.
The Buninyong Community Road Safety Committee, established in 2022 with Victorian Government support, has been a strong advocate for improved pedestrian safety at the site.

This funding follows years of strong advocacy from the community and the dedicated work of the Buninyong Road Safety Advisory Committee. It’s a great result for Buninyong and proof the local voices matter.”
