Works have begun on the redevelopment of Darley Park Community and Sports Centre to create a space that will serve the fast-growing community, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.
Member for Melton, Steve McGhie MP, along with Member for Buninyong Michaela Settle MP, today broke ground on the project, which will be delivered by Moorabool Shire Council in partnership with the Andrews Government.
Already home to many local sporting clubs, the centre will soon be able to accommodate more community groups. It will also be accessible and inclusive, with female-friendly changerooms, multipurpose community spaces, an office space and a new kitchen.
This $4 million project is supported by $2.5 million from the Growing Suburbs Fund, which supports community connections, better services and greater opportunities at the local level. Moorabool Shire has contributed $1 million towards the works, with an additional $500,000 from the Darley Football, Netball and Cricket Clubs.
The refreshed facilities at Darley Park will better serve the needs of the growing community and cater to the requirements of the diverse demographic of active and potential Park and Community and Sports Centre users.
The Growing Suburbs Fund has contributed more than $9.5 million for three projects in Moorabool Shire for three projects since 2020, including the Ballan Library and Community Hub and the West Maddingley Early Years and Community Hub.
