Local AFL, Netball, Soccer, Cricket, Tennis participants and the whole community has been given a massive boost in Maddingly and Bacchus March with the Andrews Labor Government announcing funding of $4 million for Moorabool Council to upgrade facilities at the Bacchus Marsh Racecourse Recreation Reserve.

Member for Buninyong Michaela Settle and Member for Melton Steve McGhie today announced $500,000 towards two new full-sized soccer pitches and 100 Lux LED lighting from the Government’s 2020-21 World Game Facilities Fund with Moorabool Council contributing the balance of the $2,402,590 project.

In addition, a new AFL/Cricket oval with perimeter fencing, players benches, 100 lux LED lighting, 2 netball and 2 tennis hardcourts with lighting and an All Abilities Adventure Playground will be funded with a $3,500,000 grant from the Victorian Government’s the Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program with Moorabool council contributing the balance of the $6,461,450 project.

The reserve is home to the Bacchus Marsh Football Netball Club, Bacchus Marsh Cricket Club and Bacchus Marsh Soccer Club – these clubs have seen significant growth and these new facilities will super charge their growth.

New tennis courts with lighting and a new All Abilities Adventure Playground will support the whole community.

The initiative is part of the Victorian Government’s strong commitment to sport and active recreation, gender equality, active lifestyles and stimulating local economies through job creation to make a real difference to local communities. 

The Victorian Government has invested more than $1.05 billion in community sport and recreation infrastructure since 2014.
