The Andrews Labor Government has built and upgraded more schools than any government in our state’s history, and the Victorian Budget 2021/22 continues that record of investment.

Member for Buninyong Michaela Settle visited Woady Yaloak Primary School Smythesdale campus to announce that the school will receive $9 million to upgrade and modernise the schools four campuses.

This builds on the $435,000 provided to the school earlier this year to address high priority maintenance tasks identified in the school's specialist assessment, including restumping, subfloor, brickwork repair works, drainage, stormwater, roof and guttering repair works.

Architects will visit all four campuses to work out a long-term plan for the school buildings.  Working with the school leadership they will look for how to invest the funds to deliver the best education for local students.

Across Victoria, the Labor Government is delivering 1,460 school upgrades – investing in new classrooms, fixing old buildings and delivering the learning spaces our kids deserve. 

The Labor Government’s unprecedented $7.2 billion investment in Victorian school infrastructure is not only creating 7,500 jobs – it is ensuring that ensuring every child has a great local school where they can achieve their best.

The visit was also an opportunity to tour the early works on a new sensory garden funded which has been funded with a $194,968 grant under the Victorian Government’s Inclusive Schools fund

The Inclusive Schools Fund is part of the Labor Government’s commitment to ensure that students with disabilities and additional needs get the same opportunities as other students.
