UPGRADES ON THE WAY FOR MCLEAN RESERVE IN BALLAN

Minister for Regional Development Gayle Tierney and State Member for Eureka Michaela Settle have announced that the Ballan community will receive a $100,000 grant for a new sheltered space for gathering outside, plus new signage and playground equipment at the McLean Reserve – giving people more ways to enjoy the town’s beautiful outdoor spaces.

The Allan Labor Government is building on its support for regional Victoria with exciting new projects set to boost local economies, build even stronger communities and give people even more reasons to stop and visit.

$5.5 million in grants will support projects across the Grampians region through the Labor Government’s $25 million Council Support Package. The package, now fully acquitted, has successfully helped shovel-ready projects get off the ground in our biggest regional cities and surrounding towns.

The package funds projects that are designed to increase tourism, improve local infrastructure, strengthen businesses and empower volunteers – with grants ranging from $20,000 and $5 million depending on size and scope.

We’re also helping locals stay active in Ballarat, with the Fund supporting upgrades at the Ballarat Major Events Precinct, to deliver new modular buildings at Frank Bourke Oval, including 4 player change rooms and amenities, umpires change rooms, administration/scorers’ box, veranda, and storage in line with the AFL Facility Guidelines.

The Council Support Package has backed 27 projects across regional Victoria, and complements the Tiny Towns Fund, which is backing projects that really matter to local communities in smaller towns of up to 5,000 people. Tiny Towns Fund first round projects will be announced in the coming months, with both programs delivered through Regional Development Victoria.

These initiatives are part of the Labor Government’s record $45 billion investment in regional Victoria since 2014, making our regions even better places to live, work and visit.

Quotes attributable to State Member for Eureka Michaela Settle

"A strong community comes from strong investment in our people. McLean Reserve is where families and friends come together, have some fun, and get involved - we’re making it easier for them to do that through the Council Support Package.”
