SUPPORTING GOLDEN PLAINS WITH COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE
The Andrews Labor Government is continuing to support the Golden Plains Shire with the infrastructure and services it needs to grow and thrive.
Member for Buninyong Michaela Settle today announced $200,000 in funding for the Lethbridge play space upgrade through the Labor Government’s Living Local Fund.
The funding will support upgrades to the existing play elements, street furniture, paths, and landscaping at the Lethbridge Play Space, with the aim to encourage physical activity, social connection and increase township visitation.
More than 400 projects across the state will be supported through the Fund, with $15 million available for suburban projects and another $5 million for the regions.
Other successful projects in Golden Plains Shire include the Maude and District Landcare Group who will purchase equipment such as tools, a trailer, and a portable tank; Hands of Change Limited to activate the Youth Executive Learning program (YELP) and the Community Innovation in Tech program (CITP) by purchasing computer equipment, workbenches, and a 3D printer; the Meredith Community Centre to upgrade fridges to more energy efficient appliances; the Dereel Men’s Shed to upgrade the lighting in the workshop; and the Linton & District Historical Society for refurbishment works of the Linton Library including repairing and repainting the exterior of the building.
The Living Local Fund is part of the Government’s Our Suburbs: Living Local and Our Regions: Living Local Initiatives.

“From updating the play space at Lethbridge, to providing new equipment for the Maude Landcare Group, and fixing the lighting at Dereel Men’s Shed, we are doing what matters to support community spirit in Golden Plains Shire.
This funding will make a huge difference to all recipients across Golden Plains, and I look forward to seeing more locals get involved in the many wonderful community organisations that our region has to offer.”
Quotes attributable to Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble:
“Golden Plains Shire Council is pleased to partner with the Victorian State Government to fund and deliver the Lethbridge Play Space upgrade. We are delighted funding has been secured from the State Government’s Living Local – Regional Grants Program, and alongside a contribution of $200,000 from Council, the Lethbridge Play Space upgrade project has been fully funded.
“The upgrade of the Lethbridge Play space is fantastic news for the Lethbridge community as well as residents from surrounding townships, including Maude and She Oaks. The upgrade project will see the delivery of improved play equipment, furniture and internal paths which will meet the growing needs of the community and aims to increase utilisation and encourage physical activity and social connection.”
