NEW MEMORIAL PARK TO HONOUR MT EGERTON’S HISTORY AND VETERANS THROUGH TINY TOWNS GRANT

Meber for Eureka, Michaela Settle, today announced that Mount Egerton will receive funding through the Tiny Towns Fund to establish a permanent memorial park, providing a dedicated place for commemoration and reflection.

The Mount Egerton War Memorial Park will be located on the corner of Steetley Lane and Main Road, on land generously donated for community use. The development will create a significant site of remembrance for those from Mount Egerton and the wider district, including Bungal, who served in the First and Second World Wars and subsequent conflicts.

The memorial will feature a stone monument in a prominent position, complemented by a series of panels inscribed with the names of fallen servicemen and women, while a gazebo with seating and interpretive signage will provide a place for reflection and education about Mount Egerton’s history and its wartime contribution.

The project will maximise local input, with the memorial to be manufactured and installed by Ballarat-based businesses, ensuring both community ownership and economic benefit to the region.

The Tiny Towns Fund has now supported almost 350 projects across more than 300 small towns in Victoria, delivering community-led initiatives that enhance liveability, strengthen connections and preserve local heritage.
