NEW ARENA HAS HORSE RIDERS COVERED IN TEESDALE

Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture and Member for Eureka Michaela Settle today joined Golden Plains Shire Mayor, Cr Brett Cunningham and club members to officially open the new covered arena at Leighdale, backed by a $318,296 investment from the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

Horse riders of all ages and abilities can now enjoy more time at the Leighdale Equestrian Centre in Teesdale thanks to the completion of a new covered arena, made possible by the Allan Labor Government.

From equestrian to learning riding skill basics, venues like Leighdale Equestrian Centre provide the perfect space for new and established riders to pursue their love of horse riding.

The arena roof cover comes complete with new 150 lux LED lighting and provides all weather protection. The project has also delivered water tanks, storm water drainage, 80-capacity grandstand spectator seating and the installation of a self-irrigating flex material arena surface.

Clubs and riders can now get the most out of their time at the popular facility enjoying more skills programs, training and competition events day and night.

Over the past decade, the Victorian Government has invested more than $1.9 billion in community sport and active recreation infrastructure.

The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is also providing more than $23 million continue delivery of community sport and active recreation infrastructure and programs to increase participation opportunities and improve accessibility.

From horse arena redevelopments to new netball court lighting, investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.

Michaela Settle MP acknowledged Golden Plains Shire Council for its $325,000 financial contribution, and the Leighdale Equestrian Centre Committee of Management for its financial contribution of $30,000.
