NET GAIN FOR SPORT IN MOORABOOL
It’s game on for local netball at the Gordon Recreation Reserve and Wallace Recreation Reserve with recent court upgrades now complete, backed by the Victorian Government.
Member for Eureka Michaela Settle today joined Moorabool Shire Mayor, Cr Paul Tatchell, to officially launch court upgrades at both venues, made possible by a $250,000 Victorian Government investment.
Upgrades in Gordon and Wallace have seen the resurface of one netball court at both venues. The courts come complete with an acrylic competition ready surface, with new netball goal posts and padding also installed at Gordon Recreation Reserve.
The new courts will be game-changing for over 200 players from the Gordon Eagles and Springbank Wallace Tigers netball teams, providing new opportunities to build on numbers and host more competition.
The works have also delivered a new LED scoreboard in Wallace; adding a whole new dimension to the player and fan experience at the ground and providing clubs and future champions the chance to showcase their achievements on the big screen.
The funding will also support upgrades and planning of netball facilities at Maddingley Park in Bacchus Marsh.
The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is providing more than $23 million to continue delivery of community sport and active recreation infrastructure and programs to increase participation opportunities and improve accessibility. This includes continuing the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund so more Victorians can participate.
From playspace redevelopments to court upgrades, investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.
Michaela Settle MP acknowledged Moorabool Shire Council for its commitment in delivering the court upgrades.
