MORE WOMEN’S HEALTH CARE CLOSE TO HOME IN BACCHUS MARSH
Member for Eureka Michaela Settle MP welcomed today’s announcement that one of the next women’s health clinics will be located in Bacchus Marsh and operated by Western Health.
The new clinic forms part of the commitment to establish 20 dedicated multidisciplinary women’s health clinics across Victoria.
Women will be able to see specialists such as gynaecologists, urologists, specialist GPs, nurses and allied health professionals closer to home – saving time and money while making it easier to access the care they need.
The clinics will provide care and advice for a range of health issues including endometriosis, pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, prolapse and incontinence, contraception, abortion and menopause with the Bacchus Marsh Clinic offering specialised treatment for Pelvic Pain.
This work builds on the Child and Adolescent Women’s Health Clinic delivered through The Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne following the Victorian Inquiry into Women’s Pain.
The Government’s response was shaped by the experiences of more than 13,000 women and girls, who shared their experiences of gender health gaps, medical bias and feeling ignored or dismissed when seeking care. The reforms also include the rollout of the ‘green whistle’ pain relief and the introduction of a statewide standard for women’s pain care.
The network of 20 clinics forms part of the Government’s $153 million women’s health package, which is already improving access to care through a mobile women’s health clinic, Aboriginal-led services, a virtual women’s health clinic and 20 sexual and reproductive health hubs.
These changes are helping ensure Victorian women can access the care they deserve — free, accessible and closer to home.
