Bald Hill Activation Project Completion

Bald Hill’s long-planned transformation has taken another big step forward, with the completion of Stage 3 of the Bald Hill Activation Project — creating a fully connected trail network that is already being enjoyed by locals and visitors.

The vision for Bald Hill has been unfolding over several years, beginning with the 1000+ Steps walk, which links the neighbourhood near Halletts Way to the lookout at the top of the hill. This first stage quickly became a much-loved local spot, offering a great challenge for walkers and some of the best views in the region.

Stage 2 followed with the All-Abilities Sculpture Trail at Telford Park. This part of the project opened the space to people of all ages and abilities, combining accessible paths with public art that reflects the landscape and its stories.

Stage 3, now complete, brings the whole project together. The new summit loop features gentle grades, formal viewing points with sweeping 360-degree views across Moorabool and back towards Melbourne, and six sculptures designed specifically for the site. New visitor facilities — including shelter, seating, an accessible toilet and a formal carpark off Swans Road — make it easier for everyone to enjoy time on the hill.

Stage 3 represents an investment of around $2.8 million, supported by the Victorian Government through the Regional Tourism Infrastructure Projects Fund.

The Bald Hill Activation Project is creating new ways for people to connect with the outdoors, support local tourism and showcase one of Moorabool’s most striking natural landmarks.
