Federation TAFE has been named as a finalist for the 2020 Victorian Training Awards.
Member for Buninyong Michaela Settle and Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison said Federation TAFE was among 35 finalists for the awards statewide, which are now in their 66th year.
The awards recognise and honour the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations in the Victorian TAFE and training sector.
Finalists have been named across 13 award categories, which include awards for individuals, employers, industry collaboration and training providers.
Among the finalists is Federation TAFE which is one of three training institutions shortlisted for the Industry Collaboration Award. This award recognises an exemplary skills development collaboration between an employer or industry body and a training organisation delivering nationally recognised training.
Federation TAFE has been recognised for its innovative Pathways to Technology (P-TECH) program, now in its 4th year of operation in Ballarat, which is a collaborative industry program between Federation TAFE and IBM.
P-TECH combines rigorous coursework with workplace experiences that include mentoring, worksite visits, paid internships and first–in–line for job considerations with IBM. It embeds industry needs at the heart of the program while allowing students to complete a Certificate III, Certificate IV and/or Diploma in an IT-related field.
The Victorian Training Awards showcase and celebrate excellence in the Victorian vocational education and training (VET) sector and are held each year in National Skills Week.
Winners in each category will receive $5000 in prize money.
National Skills Week is an opportunity to promote the exciting career pathways that are available to all Victorians. The week allows the VET sector to showcase examples of the many pathways to success and is dedicated to raising the status of practical and vocational learning
