A $350,000 grant from the Victorian Government will help create approximately 130 new jobs at Ballarat’s Concentrix customer experience contact centre as part of the ongoing commitment to support regional communities through the impacts of coronavirus.

Member for Buninyong Michaela Settle and Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison today announced the funding at Federation University’s Tech Park.

The project is among a suite of new shovel-ready initiatives expedited to support economic and social renewal in Ballarat.

With the support of the Victorian Government, Federation University has been fitting out an existing facility to attract these contact centre jobs into Ballarat.  Funding will help expand Concentrix’s Ballarat facility based in Federation University’s Tech Park, from a current capacity of 120 seats, to a larger site with 270 seats.

Local contractor S.J. Weir were awarded the contract and with works already underway the new centre will be ready next month. Concentrix will then move from their existing facility into the larger 270 seat centre.

Funded as part of the Government’s record $2.6 billion Delivering for Regional and Rural Victoria Program, the newly announced projects are in addition to the Victorian Government’s recently announced $2.7 billion Building Works package, of which more than half are focused on supporting rural and regional infrastructure projects.

The multi-billion-dollar investment will support the creation of thousands of new jobs and, by investing in local projects and priorities, will help to ensure that regional Victorians are on a level playing field as they navigate the consequences of coronavirus.
